Regularly in the recent past, I’ve found myself ruminating over the lives of certain Bible characters that received dreams and promises from God.
I observe that their realities at the time of the promise were so distanced from their dreams that one would wonder if the promise/dream were a mockery.
In fact, even after the dream, their current realities stayed the same. It only takes a man/woman who knows that the Promise Maker is also a Promise Keeper to stay the course until the promise is realised.
A careful look at the life of Joseph, the little son of Jacob, captures this truth. His brothers hated him because of the lofty dreams, but Joseph believed the dreams and worked hard, following divine principles of diligence, purity, love, and obedience.
When God had enthroned him, the same people who hated him bowed before him. They even called Jacob, “Joseph’s servant” in Genesis 43:28.
This was after 13 years of being sold as a slave and many more after seeing the first dreams he shared with them. I don’t know if God kept speaking to Joseph during these years, comforting and reassuring him of the certainty of the dreams.
Howbeit, the dreams came to be. Joseph’s dreams became his reality.
Dear reader, write the dreams. Make them plain if God asks you to. Constantly tell yourself those dreams. But more importantly, believe those dreams and believe the Giver of them. Follow the divine principles that Joseph followed.
Someday, you will be living the fulfilment of those dreams. They will become your realities.
Someday, my dreams will be my realities.
