You are in the middle of a constant power tussle between two important entities. Not really a power tussle, seeing that these two beings are busy enjoying themselves. These two entities are Life and Death. Purposely, I capitalised the first letters of both words to give them some respect. Because, come to think of it, we live for Life and die for Death.
Daily, each of these entities tries to live through us. Life lives in and interacts through our sense organs with the outside world, while death patiently waits for the time to take over an aspect of the body or the mind. While life focuses more on interacting with the external living world through your skin, eyes, nose, ears, hairs, etc., death is more focused on the inside, preferring to eat the internal organs as it feeds on your fear, anxiety, worries, heartaches, pains, etc.
The problem is that we are caught up between these two entities, and only our decisions make us truly live for ourselves. When we decide to go for what is right and what we truly desire, irrespective of which entity is favoured, that is when we are truly living for ourselves. And because death and life are in the power of the tongue, you can choose who to favour by what you say and what you do.
If you allow life, it’ll continue to live through you pleasing itself until time catches up with you and death takes over. If you allow death, it will paralyse you with fear, diseases, and all unhealthy habits until you die.
When you, the host, die, life leaves your body, because it doesn’t die, and neither does death. They both exit and continue living in other living things. Life moves on. So does death. So, you live for yourself when you take control of your being and do the right things that you should do, not bothering about life or death. Just you and only you. You only live when you decide to walk in the life of God.
“O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.” Isaiah 2:5.
