So many people have wonderful dreams. In fact, I’m yet to see anyone who doesn’t have the desire to become someone relevant and accomplish great things. The problem however is the execution of those dreams. It’s not enough to have great ideas without executing any, because in the end, what counts is how many good ideas came to life, not how many good ideas you had in your head.
So, in this article, I shall give you seven reasons why you need to start working on those dreams today, not tomorrow.
1. You don’t have eternity to achieve your dreams.
I’m yet to see what suffocates dreams more than procrastination. That idea that there’s always a tomorrow for you to start has crippled many dreams. You wake up one day, and you are close to the end, and regrets fill your heart.
You are human, and humans experience what is called death. This shouldn’t scare you but should be a motivation to execute those ideas now. We are living souls that are housed in a body that after some decades begins to experience some wear and tear. We increasingly become feeble after a certain age, and after a while, we’re no longer able to do many things.
So, the earlier you start getting serious about your life and purpose, the better for you. This especially goes for young people who think that they have all the time in the world to waste their time and lives.
Even Our Lord Jesus knew that the night would come, so He decided to work the works of Him that sent him while it was still day. The night is coming, gentleman and gentlewoman. You better get going with that vision, dream and purpose. Time won’t wait for you.
2. Miracles occur when you make an effort
God walks with walkers, works with workers, and does things with the doers, but will never sit with the sitters nor lie down with the liers.
Often, we make the mistake of thinking that God will do everything for us. He will give us a good idea, and then provide all the implements necessary to execute it. Afterwards, we expect Him to execute it on our behalf, and wake us up to enjoy the fruits of His labour. It is true that God created the garden of Eden and put everything in there. But remember that He asked Adam and Eve to dress and keep it, so it continues to increase and multiply for their upkeep.
Miracles occur while you pursue those God-given dreams. God will bless your efforts with success beyond your imagination. God never sleeps with sleepers nor slumbers with slumberers. Praying is a futile exercise if there is no accompanying action. So, don’t be lazy; activate your miracle.
3. Many people depend on realising your dreams to realise theirs. Don’t disappoint them.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. (Marianne Deborah Williamson)
Sometimes we fail to realise that there is a grand purpose for our creation. That although we have our individual purpose to accomplish, we have a corporate purpose to accomplish as well. And in the accomplishment of this corporate purpose, we complement each other. No one is meant to live as an island. We’re here to contribute to the well-being of our neighbours because we are not meant to function in isolation.
We are all part of a relay race, doing your bit well will help me do mine well. We are all workers in the same conglomerate. Though we work in different departments, what I do affects what you do.
Any invention that has been made was aided by other invention(s) that came before it. And today’s inventions will help tomorrow’s inventions too. And the cycle continues.
4. Your dreams are important to the world
God gave you the ideas, dreams and imaginations so you can make the earth a better place. Those ideas aren’t for heaven. Heaven doesn’t need an architect; God is the builder, and it’s made without hands. It doesn’t need a heart surgeon; there are no heart diseases there. Heaven doesn’t need a scientist to discover the cure for all incurable diseases; there’s no sickness there.
Heaven doesn’t need an engineer, a business tycoon, a software developer, a singer, a pianist, an inventor, a teacher, a writer, a filmmaker, etc. But we need these professionals on earth, that’s why God made you and gave you those fantastic ideas. God made you for Him, for you and us. Don’t deprive us of your precious contribution and flavour. Jeremiah 1:5; Psalms 139: 14-16.
5. It’s useless to have great ideas if you don’t implement them.
There are a few useless things under the sun, and one of them is an unexecuted idea.
The deathbed is full of sad stories of great ideas that were never birthed; things that should have been said but were never said; books that should have been written but never saw the daylight; experiments that should have been carried out but remained in the head; songs that should have been sung but were never written; movies that should have been made but were never scripted; adventures that should have been lived but were continuously postponed.
Regret is one of the killers of the old. So, start today. Start now. Start here.
6. You’ll never know how strong you are nor how far you can go until you’ve tried.
Most people are paralysed by the thought that they’re not good enough, strong enough, pretty enough, intelligent enough, tall enough, short enough, rich enough, educated enough, big enough, or slim enough. In fact, they think that they’re simply not enough to attempt to accomplish their dreams.
Newsflash: Nobody is usually good enough at first. We simply began to read, write, experiment, sing, dance, research, record, design, gym and study, and we’re still not good enough. We dared to start.
The truth is that you won’t be able to cure self-doubt if you don’t even try. You need to take the first step, and the rest will follow.
7. Finally, You need to start because Of You.
You won’t fully respect yourself if you do nothing about those dreams in your heart. You may forgive yourself for trying and failing, but it’s difficult to forgive yourself for not trying at all; for not doing what you should have done.
You deserve a better life. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to achieve your dreams. You deserve a place at the table where the decisions are made. Stop belittling yourself and begin to work on your dreams.
I started this website because I have the vision to help people discover their uniqueness and achieve their life purpose. I was tired of giving excuses about how busy my schedules are. I just started and here we are still pursuing that dream. Will I run out of inspiration on what to write someday? I don’t know, and quite frankly, I’m not thinking about that. The important thing is that I started, and I’m still here. Per il resto, chi vivrà vedrà.
