Local and Global influence

The fulfilment of your purpose can be local or global. And the fact that it is local does not make it less important than one that is global. God gives the measure to every man.

The fact that I am just content with being local does not make me less ambitious. In fact, my ambition is to fulfil that local purpose that God has called me into.

Some people are midwives in local communities. In that local community, they are loved and cherished, but no one knows them outside that municipality. The fact that they are not global icons in midwifery does not make them less valuable.

The Hebrew midwives in Egypt had a local influence on the Hebrew women. They weren’t famous in the entire land of Egypt, but that’s not a problem. Their purpose was to save the young child, Moses, who would become famous beyond the boundaries of Egypt. The midwives fulfilled what may be seen as a local purpose, but that was instrumental in assisting Moses to fulfil his.

Sometimes, it is not even a function of capacity to handle global things or not. It is just God deciding to make people do things everywhere how he wants them to.

Same thing in marriage. The purpose of your union can be local or global. And the fact that it is local does not make it less valuable to God than one that is global.

In the choice of marriage, do not marry because you think your spouse has global influence, and so you want to ride on that. Marry God’s perfect will for your life. He or she could have a local/municipal influence, and it is fine. The important thing is that you fulfilled God’s purpose for your life and marriage.

Also note this: Many people who end up having global influence started as locally driven people in little communities. They may never have thought of being known globally. They just did their work in their locality, and God, who had billed them for global influence, when the time was ripe, thrust them forward.

Jesus Christ never travelled the world to preach. He was only in Israel, not even all parts of Israel, preaching, teaching, and healing. As time went on, the testimonies went beyond Israel, and people from neighbouring cities came to him.

However, it wasn’t until after his death, burial, and resurrection that his gospel spread abroad. His disciples took that good news to all parts of the then world. And His disciples today continue spreading the message of love and salvation from sin to every corner of the globe.

Focus on your purpose and do it well.
