Speed is not for competition

  • cabiojinia

When the Lord grants speed, even kings on the wheels of chariots can be overtaken by men on the wheels of God. Elijah’s case with Ahab proves this truth. When God granted Elijah speed, he ran faster than Ahab to the gates of the city.

When God granted Philip divine transportation by the Holy Spirit, he was suddenly found in Azotus. And went about doing his business of gospel evangelism. (Acts 8:39-40)

When Jesus entered the boat of his disciples who were crossing over to Capernaum, they immediately found themselves at the shore. (John 6:21)

In Joel 2, God said that he will restore the years of wastage and losses unto us.

In all of these cases, what God did and does is that He makes you to be where you ought to be according to his divine timing for you. You are neither late to your destination nor running ahead of his timing, although that may not be apparent humanly speaking.

The speed that God grants to you is not meant for you to be equal to your mates. People may be your mate in age, experience, and academic qualifications, but that doesn’t make them your mate according to the divine schedule.

So, when God grants you speed, he doesn’t have to put you at the same level as they are. You can actually be ahead of them in the physical, but the speed was not to draw a comparison.

You can also be seen as being behind them, but that doesn’t matter. The age mates of Abraham had seen their grandchildren before Abraham saw his little child. The speed that God granted him for the lost years was that when his divine timing came, he had his child, and other promises God made to him came to pass in their time.

So, God’s speed is not granted so you can compete with or compare yourself to your equals. God’s speed is not for you to oppress others. It is not for a show of force.

It is given so you will be where you should be when you ought to be there according to God’s calendar and agenda for your life. May the Lord grant you speed this week, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
