In all the secrets I’ve enunciated so far (1, 2 & 3), I’ve focused majorly on the things you ought to do to become successful. In this episode, I’ll be giving ideas on things to avoid. These tips are not only meant to make you wealthy and achieve your big dreams, they’re also meant to help you lead a happy life.
I often inject some humour into my write-ups to pass deep messages. That’s a trait you’ll find in most of my stories if you read between the lines anyway. So, in this episode, I’ll be telling you a story of how I…. Sorry, no stories.
Time is money. Let’s dive into this episode.
AVOID THESE and/or DO THOSE.
Always eat from the plate, not from the pot. Eating from the pot is a sign of laziness. Yes, you don’t want to wash the plate and pot.
Avoid flippant tongue: this is a destroyer. Don’t say everything you know, it may be half of the whole story. Don’t lend your ears to gossips, they’ll destroy you.
Avoid overthinking(worry & anxiety). Worry over past things you can’t change, anxiety for the future you have no control over. Just focus on doing the things of today, that’s enough headache already.
Avoid Jealousy. Be grateful for God’s blessings on the lives of others. When you celebrate others’ success, your turn will come. When you like good things, you’ll attract good things to yourself.
You don’t need alcohol except when you want to clean your toilet, glass, permanent ink or what have, or as a disinfectant. For drinking? Nope, it’s totally unnecessary.
Habits are those little things you did every day that became routine. If you did the opposite every day, you’ll unlearn the old habit and learn the new one. I just gave you a million-dollar secret.
Avoid Pride. Pride goes before a fall says the Holy Scriptures, and God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Be careful with online gaming. Addiction to online gaming is something that has exploded, and you don’t want to fall, the victim. Moderation is the word or simply avoid it. Go out and play son!
There’s no road that leads to nowhere. Every road leads to somewhere; either to destruction or to destiny. Which road are you on?
Avoid sleeping too much. A little sleep, a little slumber and your poverty will come says the wise man. Moderation is still the word here.
Avoid grudges. You’ll be killing yourself slowly while your enemy lives on. Forgive and let it go. It’ good for your mental and physical health. For your spiritual health too, I almost forgot that.
Don’t tell everyone your secrets, they don’t tell you theirs. And quite frankly, not everyone knows how to bridle their tongue.
Never sleep with anger. As much as you can, deal with offences before closing your eyes. It may be your last, so don’t live with the regret of not resolving it.
Don’t look down on the poor or a person of a lower social status. The world turns around and you might find yourself on the lower stratum while he/she is up there.
Never sell your dignity for a piece of bread or promotion. A good name is better than precious stones. You might get the bread, but it won’t last.
Whatever is gotten through deceit ends up in the corner of the mouth. Only my village people will understand this one. Go ask them.
Avoid any appearance of fornication/adultery: this is the most single killer of dreams.
Women are not the killers of dreams. Men aren’t the killer of dreams. Your irrepressible desire is. As a Christian, God’s Word and His Spirit helps me bring my body under control. He gives me the strength to overcome. I encourage you to try Him, I’ve never regretted following Him.
Avoid pornography, sex chats, sex calls, sex video, sex audio, sex tape, sex house or whatever name you call them. They’ll ruin your life and destiny.
Avoid bad company, they corrupt good manners and derail the simple at heart.
Some people are weeds in your life. Identify and separate from them immediately, you have no business staying together. Root them out else they’ll suck you dry, kill you and live on.
Don’t slander others. You don’t go up by pulling others down.
Avoid talks that add no value to your dream nor to your life. However, having a good laugh with friends and family is very important ooo…. Just saying.
You become where your habits, not your wishes, take you.
Avoid negative confessions and pessimism. There is no need to be pessimistic, life already has enough tragedies, don’t add to it. Yeah, it’s difficult to be optimistic when everything around spills pessimism, but you have. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me said Paul the Apostle. With God, nothing shall be impossible. If you have faith, you shall say unto this mountain….
Avoid keeping a frowned face or moody looks every time. No one wants to associate with an angry person.
People will always come close when there’s a smile because they want to share in the joy. Everyone needs a piece of joy. Moreover, it takes a few muscles to smile while your entire system is in disarray when you frown.
Avoid lies. Italians say “le bugie hanno le gambe corte.” That is, lies have short legs. A buon intenditore….
Don’t be rude. What’s that for?
If you cannot be trusted, work on yourself. Don’t assume no one can be trusted.
Don’t eat your profit. Invest it. That’s how you grow rich.
Don’t spend years mourning over one mistake. You’ve made it, readjust and move on. No need to cry over spilt milk.
Don’t marry Jezebel. Except you’re willing to pay with your life.
Don’t marry beauty, it vanishes in less than 3 months. Marry virtue, marry character.
Don’t ever commit murder, for no reason whatsoever. Your ambition is not worth the life of any person.
Runaway from hard drugs, they have destroyed many lives. Once you become dependent, it gets difficult to quit. If you’re already into it, I’ll advise you to visit a rehabilitation centre for serious help. Prayers and counselling in the Church is also a very important aspect of rehabilitation. So, come close to God. He saved me, He can save you.
The grass may be greener on the other side but focus on yours. If you take care of yourself, it’ll become green too.
Don’t eat God’s portion of your income. After all, He just asked for one-tenth; a small portion really.
Don’t judge after what you see nor after what you heard. You might be very wrong.
You don’t get wise through stubbornness, you get wise by listening to wise counsel.
Don’t leave God. He’s the only one you can trust after all.
Don’t be fooled; you’re a man, you’ll die someday.
If sugar is put into your mouth, spit it. You don’t want to die of diabetes. Just saying.
Take care of your body. That’s your most important property. You need it. It’ll stay with you even when everyone else leaves. And it goes to the grave with you too.
Be crazy in your ideas and dreams of what to achieve. But let there be some pattern in your craze.
Avoid cursing your parents. You might regret it when it’s too late.
Your parents can be wrong sometimes. Just know that too.
If you miss the road, ask for directions. Don’t continue in the wrong way.
Avoid spending hours on TV watching others. If you keep watching others no one will watch you. I borrowed this from my Pastor. Thanks, Sir.
Avoid envy, there’s enough for everyone. And the more you envy, the more your bones rotten – that’s the Bible and I can’t disapprove it.
Read your Bible and pray every day. Once you start doing that, you’ll know why I said it.
Don’t neglect family. Family comes first, your job second.
The greatest investment you can make is in people.
Do you want to be perfect? Bridle your tongue. It’s that simple.
Jesus saying that there will always be poor people simply means that there will always be opportunities to give/help. It doesn’t mean that you should be poor.
Avoid smoking, traditional or electronic. What’s the point of wasting money on something that’ll kill you? I mean….
Don’t struggle to please everyone. It’s a waste of time and energy.
Don’t be so focused on your past and future that you forget the present. The present is all you’ve got really, so, make use of it to the fullest.
Avoid falsifying data. You’ll be biting more than you can chew.
Avoid going back to your vomit. If you threw it out, it’s for a reason. Go find something new to eat. Just saying.
Avoid negative thinking and most importantly, avoid negative confessions. Be positive no matter what life throws at you. It’s difficult, yes. But you don’t want to slump into depression and pessimism. Yes, I repeated this point to underscore its importance, thanks for noticing.
Don’t load your plate with food because of hunger. You may not go half-plate before hunger disappears. I’m not explaining.
