One thing that immediately captures your attention as you read the story of Joseph is his firm belief in whatever dreams he saw and the absence of self-doubt as to his ability to accomplish them. This is in contrast to Gideon because, despite the physical appearance of an angel and other encounters with God, Gideon still had doubts as to the things he heard and his ability to execute the same – given words of God. Although Joseph was still young, he believed in the authenticity of the dreams and the certainty of their fulfilment. So, he was not deterred by the hatred of his brothers nor the numerous troubles he would face on his way.
Reflection: Do you believe in the dreams you’ve received from God? Or do you doubt that you’ll be able to accomplish them? Let this help you: The giver of the dreams already knows that you have all it takes to achieve them. He will work through you if you can believe.
And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord – Luke 1:45
