Today, we want to take a few prayer points from Judges chapter 6. We shall focus on the first 6 verses. I would like you to read the place and spend 5-7 minutes on each prayer point. May the Lord hear us and attend to our heart’s cry.
Verse 1: And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
Prayer point: There is sufficient evidence in the scriptures showing that people can suffer evil things because of their evil deeds. The book of Judges is full of such proof. What makes you not suffer from those consequences is God’s mercy.
Therefore, let us cry unto God for mercy today. The Psalmist had to cry for mercy in Psalm 51:1-2. Let God’s mercy prevail over the strict judgment we deserve because of our sins.
Verse 2: And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
Prayer point: I have been chased out of my inheritance and hidden in caves and dens. I have been reduced to an animal, but today I return in strength to possess my possession.
Every fear of the enemy and every shrinking so that the enemy will be relaxed and gain more ground, those are gone today.
Away with dimming my light so my enemies will shine. Away with accommodating the enemy and suffering untold discomfort.
Verse 3: And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them.
Prayer point: Observe the time they normally come up, after the labour of sowing. After the sowing, toiling, and crying season, the enemies appeared to reap and devastate.
Instead of they that sow in tears reaping in joy, we sow in tears and cry more even during reaping.
All the enemies that come during my season of harvest, be destroyed by the Lord.
All the enemies that attack at my time of peace, when I should enjoy my children, labour, and sacrifice, be sent back to hell today and never return.
Verse 4: and they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
Prayer point: Observe that the destruction of the Midianites included not just the profit but the capital. So, things that are instruments to generate another harvest are destroyed, crippling the economy of the land. As instruments are destroyed, the people of Israel are forced to go source for animals for labour and tools for work.
All the devourers of your instruments of work – talents, knowledge/ intelligence, voice, capital in business, children that should generate things for you, focus/concentration, faith, thinking skills, planning abilities and every instrument that you employ to plant – let them die today.
The water that swallowed the head of my axe, let it vomit it now.
2. The enemies didn’t leave any sustenance at all for Israel. They wanted them to die of starvation. Any spirit or soul that desires and seeks my death will die, while I will live.
Any devil that wants to frustrate my earnings and survival, let that devil be frustrated by the Spirit of God out of my life.
Verse 5: For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
Prayer point: The enemies came with their weapons of war and weapons of settlements/habitation. Their purpose is to attack, defeat and occupy.
Every enemy currently occupying any area of my life – Spirit, soul, and body- I check you out back to hell.
No trespass is allowed in my territory, and no camping of the wicked is permitted. The rod of the wicked shall not rest on the lot of the righteous.
O enemies, since you intend to destroy, receive the destruction of the Lord
Verse 6: And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.
Prayer point: I refuse to die impoverished. I refuse to die in pain and agony. I refuse to die reduced to a pulp.
I refuse to die without accomplishing the purpose for my creation.
I refuse to exit the world because the enemies choked me.
I refuse to die crying while the enemies are laughing.
Therefore, I cry unto thee, O Lord. Deliver me from the hands of my oppressors. Give their heads for sacrifice on their altars and grant me peace from every oppression.
In Jesus’ name we have prayed. Amen.
