To end this week, and indeed the October session of my posts, I wish to remember all the men and women whose sacrifices gave rise to millions of souls being drawn into the kingdom of God. I want to honour the several spiritual mothers and fathers whose love for God, hunger and thirst for righteousness brought me and several billions of people to salvation.
Not everyone would have survived the rigours of God’s incubation process. Many people wouldn’t have survived the refining fire of persecution, trials and troubles. Not everyone would have survived hunger and starvation. Several people won’t jettison their lives ambitions to pursue the soul-winning purpose. And not everyone would have survived the pruning fork of discipline, obedience and consistency. But you did. And have continued to stand in for Our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.
To these truly brave men and women, my heroes of faith; To these diehards who withstood the firing squads of the enemies; To these giants who stood tall when others bowed down; To these visionaries who never allowed the flesh to win, I dedicate the lines of this song below.
Also, to all the genuine Apostles, Pastors, Prophets, deacons, Sunday school teachers, elders, children teachers, youth coordinators, ushers, sanitary officers, prison evangelists, hospital visitors, rural caregivers, missionaries, choristers and worship leaders, kitchen volunteers, drivers, media personnel, prayer team members, and truly everyone genuinely serving God and His people in any capacity, I heartily dedicate the lines below to you. You are the reason I was saved and millions are being saved daily. From the depth of my heart, I say thank you for giving to the Lord.
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I dreamed I went to heaven
You were there with me
We walked along the streets of gold
Beside the crystal sea
We heard the angels singing
Then someone called your name
You turned and saw a young man
He was smiling as he came
He said friend, you may not know me now
But then he said but wait
You used to teach my Sunday school
When I was only eight
Every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start
One morning when you said that prayer
I asked Jesus in my heart
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave
Then another man stood before you
And said remember the time
A missionary came to your church
His pictures made you cry
You didn’t have much money
But you gave it anyway
Jesus took the gift you gave
And that’s why I’m here today
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave
One by one they came,
As far as the eye could see
Each one somehow touched
By your generosity
Little things that you had done, sacrifices made
Unnoticed on the earth, heaven now proclaims
And I know up in heaven
That you’re not supposed to cry
But I was almost sure
There were tears in your eyes
As Jesus took your hand
And you stood before the Lord
And He said my child look around you
For great is your reward
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave
I am so glad you gave
I am so glad you gave
“Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest
if we do not give up”
