Make each beginning count.

Some people truly don’t have issues with dreams, visions, goals and great ambitions. They have those, and a few others also have those visions well defined. And a lesser than a few have their visions written where they can see them daily.

However, you observe that when some of them think of those goals, instead of getting motivated by them, they feel incapacitated for several reasons – environment, funds, government policies, physical inabilities and the list goes on.

So, I’ve devised this trick where I tell such people to leave the high sounding goals and just focus on today. To take each day as a new beginning and make each one of them count.

Yes, it’s good to know the beautiful outcome in the end and how impactful what we’re doing will be. But many successful people will tell you that the end they envisaged was little compared to what they were able to accomplish eventually. Some others will tell you that the end they had in mind was unrealistic. But they only realised this as they journeyed.

God, who knows the end from the beginning, didn’t waste his time with great visions and goals. He simply began to create things in the beginning. After each day, He’d retire. The following morning, He’d be back creating things for that day. When the sun set, He’d retire again. He did this until the day when the Trinity agreed to make man in Their Image. Simple daily beginnings well executed.

So, instead of thinking about the end, which you can’t really define because you are not God, why not concentrate on the beginning. Then make each day count as you walk your way up towards the end goal. The end after all is uncertain – we may get there, we may even exceed it.

Like a popular quote says: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift of God – that’s why it’s called the present.

Make today good, and tomorrow will be better than you imagined.
