In Genesis 41, we learn that Pharaoh had two dreams that troubled his spirit when he awoke. He was so troubled that he sent for all the magicians and all the wise men of Egypt to interpret his dreams.
When none of them could understand the dream nor give an interpretation, he was open to suggestions from his servants. One of them, his chief butler, recommended the young prisoner Joseph. Joseph had accurately interpreted the chief butler’s dream while he was in prison.
When Joseph appeared, he told Pharaoh that God would give him an answer of PEACE. He knew that the dreams and the restlessness of his spirit were from God and only God was able to give an answer that would calm his troubled spirit. An answer that will grant him an understanding of what he saw. It was an answer that would give him direction as well as preserve his subjects. An answer of peace from God.
As I read those verses, I remembered that I had had dreams that troubled my heart. Dreams that I do not understand their meanings or the steps to take to avert their fulfilment.
Therefore, I made these prayers:
Dear Lord, all the dreams that have troubled my heart – some I understand and others I don’t. Please, through your word and your vessels, send an answer of peace to me.
Send an answer that will make me prepare for the years of lack during these years of plenty. Please, send an answer of divine direction and preservation.
I don’t want to misunderstand the dreams, and I don’t want to remain in my troubled state. I do not want to lean on my experience to guess what you might be saying through the dreams. Let a clear answer come from you, dear God of Peace.
Send your word, O Lord, and grant me clarity in Jesus’ name. Amen.
